Introduction

Over the last two years, international microchip-testing company Global ETS has created more than 100 new jobs, purchased two new buildings and leased an additional location in the West Pasco Industrial Park.

Job Creation Incentive

This week the company got a special thank you from the Pasco County Commission in the form of a $160,000 job creation incentive to recognize its plan to add 32 new full-time jobs within the county at an average annual wage of $95,548. That incentive is performance based and paid out as the jobs are created.

Global ETS Expansion

The company has invested more than $5 million in new facilities, including new automation equipment, in addition to hiring workers. Headquartered in Odessa, the firm has five additional locations around the world.
Company Chief Executive Officer Dan Tang “has always had an eye for when to scale and what approaches to take as it relates to building his business,” said Bill Cronin, president and chief executive officer of the Pasco Economic Development Council in a news release. “In addition to the rapid growth the company is experiencing in Pasco County, Global ETS has opened locations in Ontario, California, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Taiwan since 2022.
“This is a company that isn’t going to slow down any time soon, and we’re excited to show our support any way we can,” Cronin said.

Growth and Investment

An article from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, dated October 12, delved into the cash reserves held by small businesses and their capacity to endure the ongoing uncertainty. The article revealed that the excess savings accumulated by companies in 2020 and 2021 have been depleted. As a result, companies are pondering the necessity of acquiring foreign debt to support their operations, but concerns regarding high financing costs and ambiguous future expectations prevail. Additionally, the impending impact of rising interest rates on corporate investments remains a source of unease.

Recognition and Support

Workers for Global ETS provide testing and authentication of technology for “very high tech and very complex” components. Employees need specialized expertise to do that work and Tang said that includes workers with masters and doctorate degrees in electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering. The company works with the University of South Florida to provide some of that workforce, he said. “I’m just so glad to see you here,” said Commissioner Kathryn Starkey. Founded in 2012, Global ETS has since 2020 added more than 450 new customers globally, offered nine new services, bringing the total to 27, and it has increased its aerospace and defense market from 10% to 60%, according to the news release.

Conclusion

“Pasco EDC has been instrumental to the success of Global ETS, offering invaluable guidance and customized incentives that have reinforced our decision to establish our headquarters in Pasco County,” Tang said in the release. “As a business owner, feeling supported by the community is crucial, and thanks to Pasco EDC, we’re not just a business here; we’re part of a thriving community committed to mutual growth.”
